Bertinelli Getting Her Own Sitcom?

Valerie Bertinelli is heading back to sitcoms. After making her TV splash playing the daughter of a working single mom on "One Day at a Time," Bertinelli will see that world from the other perspective, now playing the single, working mom with two daughters on a new sitcom. TBS has ordered a pilot for the as-yet-untitled project, which has no premiere date and no real guarantee that it will be picked up.Nonetheless, the show is another step in Bertinelli's recent comeback that started last year, with the release of her best-selling autobiography, "Losing It -- and Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time." She has since become the spokeswoman for Jenny Craig and has a syndicated daytime talk show in the works with CBS TV Distribution Group.
The show, which is based on the real-life experiences of Dave Caplan, the creator and executive producer behind "The Bill Engvall Show," "follows the life of a woman who manages to get through the day with surprisingly good humor despite very difficult circumstances: Her husband walks out, leaving her with two kids and a struggling lumberyard. It will take every ounce of energy she has to keep both her household and her business afloat, while facing obstacles at every turn."

Yes, I would love to see Valerie back on TV!! I loved watching her on One Day at a Time, and feel she is a great actress...just too long gone!Thu, 21 Aug 2008 13:36:28 GMT | tdybr1956

Absolutely not. She's irritating enough in the Jenny Craig commercials.30 seconds of Valerie Bertinelli is hardly bearable these days. I shudder to imagine what 30 minutes would be like.
And God forbid she returns to those moronic TV-movies...because that would mean HOURS of her.
She was cute and sweet on "One Day", but now her personality comes off like nails on a chalkboard.

Hey Independant55....our gal Val isn't exactly "recovering" from her divorce. Divorce isn't really a crushing blow when you're willing to jump in the sack with any available peni$ while still married.Read her book, and find out what Val's really all about before you paint her out as a "victim."

WOW! First I want to say, after reading some of the comments, how angery and bitter some of your readers are. There must be other sites in the mental health field that could do them better service. I believe the question was about a TV program? I myself happen to like Valerie and say Good Luck!Thu, 21 Aug 2008 14:55:17 GMT | trillions

I would love to see Valerie back, she has been gone too long.Congratulations on the weight loss, that is such an accomplishment in itself.
We need the positive on TV, and seeing Valerie's smiling face has been very positive. Keep the smiles coming.
I'm sure the nay sayer's that look for negative in their lives feel very uncomflortable when they see Valerie because Valerie has a way of making one feel positive and for a minute she brings a breath of fresh air to them. For a negative person, that fresh air would feel terrible.
Welcome Back Valerie!

I lOVE her. She's such a strong, upbeat, positive woman who has overcome incredible obstacle. Her book was so enjoyable and inspirational to those who need encouragement towards a better life. Not to mention the fact that she's a great actress, marvelous mother, and still great friend to her very talented ex hubby.
You GO, Val! :)

Robin Dinsmore - Bethesda, MarylandYes, Valerie is extremely talented and adorable and has done very well with getting back into shape. Nonetheless, this "copycat" tv series shows the tv audience that there is lack in creativity by copying her old show. I am not interested in seeing her in a single-mother with two daughters. Why not make it two sons or a son and a daughter? TV shows are becoming less and less interesting because of copycatting old series. Let's not forget "Knight Rider" is returning too! Why bother? Lack of creativity. The public needs better writers and it views that the networks can't find them.

I have loved Valerie since One Day at a Time. I would love to see her back on TV either in a sitcom or talk show. She is very positive and has a lot of great energy. I am glad to see her making a come back. We need more positive celebrities like her. We have enough train wrecks to watch.Thu, 21 Aug 2008 15:13:26 GMT | maplesugar6

I have read her book, and she didn't jump in the sack with every single available peni$ while she was still married. You make it sound like she had countless affairs. She DIDN'T.She's not a victim. She and her husband just weren't right as a married couple. It's neither of their faults.

I am so glad that Val is doing a sitcom. She is a very talented actress.Actually, when you think of it, there are not very many sitcoms on tv. It has all turned into reality shows. I just think there is too much of that and not enough comedy. Sitcoms are a good way to end the day.

As an aging senior citizen, I'll welcome Valerie anytime! She's a sweetie, and although she has had her share of life's challenges, she's a talented actress who deserves another chance in the sitcom limelight. It will be great to have something other than reality shows to look forward to! I'll be the first to tune in!Thu, 21 Aug 2008 16:06:01 GMT | ladydragon
