Couric Addresses Future with CBS

In her first interview since reports emerged that she’d be exiting her role as the CBS Evening News anchor, Katie Couric told reporters at the TV critics press tour that she was not leaving early.

“We have no plans to part company anytime soon. There were a lot of speculative pieces that I think got, quite frankly, spun out of control.”

Rumors were rampant in the spring that Couric would be out of the anchor’s seat after the election. President of CBS News Sean McManus also dismissed the reports, saying: “I can say, and I have said, it's not true.”

Couric remains committed to doing her best for the 5-million plus viewers who tune in to CBS News: “I spend every day really focused on doing the best job I can, enjoying my colleagues, and coming up with new and creative ideas for how we can make the 'CBS Evening News' better.”

In a lighter moment during the satellite interview with the CBS News honchos, newsman Bob Schieffer showed he's in the know when he joked, “Jon Stewart is my inspiration. I want to be Jon Stewart when I grow up.”

Schieffer had been posed a question about what he thought of people getting their news from “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.”

He said, “I love both of those broadcasts. But, you know, I think you probably ought to look at a couple of other things too if you're going to get a full dose of news, as it were.”

From morning show hostess to evening news anchor? Nobody ever took her seriously as a news anchor. I certainly never did. Someone at CBS wanted into her knickers.

Katie is one heck of a woman,

When whe watched her husband die she never laid down or used it as a good reason to give up.

Besides intelligent and nice looking ( the picture attached to this article is horribe- I wonder if it was meant to sant the commentary).

Perhaps she is a woman that can hold her own. Do you suppose someone is jealous or self loathing because they didn't get there (with a 5 million person audience). Maybe the good ol boys club and the girly girls club couldn't contend with her ability to let the hate language roll off her back.

Katie is doing a great job and deserves the best.

Remember Katie, as long as someone is throwins stones at your back... You are still in front. Oh and don't forget to pray for those people who so easily spew such things out of their mouth without walking in your shoes.

Katie has always been a boring anchor and she was such a **bleep** on the Today show everyone hated her. And as far as her looks , well she is not even close to cute. The reason she has never remarried is because no one can stand her. I never watch her on the news. Please, with so many good anchors why did they put her in the news. She never even did well on the Today show. And she never stood a chance with Chris Boitti. He 's way to georgeous for her. I wish they would get rid of her.

Five million viewers!! Any other anchor with ratings that low would have been gone long ago. I think Katie Couric was over rated on the Today Show and even more so as anchor for CBS Evening News.
