'Lost' Heading Toward a Big Finish

'Lost' executive producers Damon Lidelof and Carlton CuseThe upcoming season of "Lost" is going to be a pivotal one as it will serve as the bridge that will take viewers into the ultimate end of the series the following season, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse said this week at the TV critics press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif. Cuse explained that the writers were able to focus on how to end the show after they struck a deal with ABC to ensure that the show will end after the sixth season.

"That made all the difference in the world," Cuse said. "We now basically knew exactly how much time we had left to tell our story, and we were basically able to blast towards that ending. I think that really completely changed our storytelling approach."

"This obviously is a tricky year for us," Cuse added. "I mean, it's like 'The Two Towers.' This is the year that links us from the past to the final season. And the final season, we're very excited about it, and we've known a lot of what we wanted to do there for a long time. So really the challenge for us and what we're working on right now is how do we make this season engaging and exciting and really put us in a place where everyone is really excited about the final season of 'Lost'? We just feel fortunate that we know exactly how much more time we have."

I've had it with ABC. According to the article above, they are ending the show. They keep "According to Jim", all the really mind numbing Bachlor(ette) shows, the absolutely crude "Wife Swap" and countless other shows I can't mention because I don't watch ABC except for "Lost". Guess when that is over, so will be the time I put in with ABC. They really don't care about their viewers and have continued to prove it.

This has NOTHING to do with ABC. If you are really a LOST fan you would already know that the show had two seasons left. It's always been known that the show was going to have a beginning, middle and END...So, don't blame ABC or the producers of the show because, just like all good things...they all must come to an end...I'm excited for the last two seasons, you should be too if you're truly a LOST FAN...

The show's beginning was quite intrigueing and had me just waiting for the next weeks show. The current seasons/episodes I feel are just dragging on, yet I still feel compelled to watch! But I also feel that if I miss an epidsode or two, I won't be anymore "lost" than when I do watch all episodes. I will more than likely continue to watch til the end however, hoping for everything from flash backs to flash forwards all will finally come full circle, but certainly won't miss it when the show when it does finally conclude.
Sometimes good shows know when to not drag it on and end on a good note. I think it's better to have enjoyed a good show while it lasted, than to keep it going on endlessly and lose it's audience from overkill.
Just my thoughts

Commenting and agreeing with Vollen I totally enjoy Lost and totally hooked on the show. I also tried to watch those reality shows like The Bachelor for the first season and was not a huge hit of them what so ever. If they expect viewers to keep watching a show they really like they should place a new spin on the show Lost if possible cause it will be missed!!!!

Lost had so many flash backs & flash forwards, not to mention the endless re-runs; I gave up on Lost a few seasons ago. Do us a favor and end it with a bang! Sink the island and everyone on it!!!

Lost is the most addicting show I have ever watched. I have all seasons on dvd and frequently get newbies to watch to get others addicted too. It is rare to find a television show so intellectually written and so riveting. I don't know what to do with the seasons coming to a close. I am hoping Fringe will be my next addiction!!!!

We enjoy the intirugue of "LOST" along with each and everyone of the characters and their intertwining relationships, the evolvement of each one's life. There are so many reasons to stay complled to follow this story, inlcuding to see our own selves in the many varied characteres types. I prefer the suspense of this program over most of the sitcoms and evenng dramas. We look forward to the next season, and will greatly anticipate the one night a week to get home to watch "Lost"., or for my daughter & I to have dinner together with "LOST".

I anticipate that it could become a Big Screen Movie, at least that the series could be complied on a full length DVD. I recorded some shows, missed many. This would be a great set to have in the house...A world wide event motion picture is what I suggest!

I recently got hooked by my cousins on Lost. By then they were watching season 4 and I was truly confused. But I was hooked, despite my confusion, so I ordered season 1 on netflix and I am obsessed! A few of my friends and I are so obsessed, we made up a name for it "OLWD" which stands for Obsessive Lost Watching Disorder. I will definitely miss Lost when it ends.

Lost is one of the most intelligent shows on TV today. It has big screen quality and the acting is superb. Somehow I was under the impression that this coming season was the last so I am very thrilled to hear there are two more!!! Will miss it when it's over.

I have to agree to the addicting aspect of "LOST". I still ask my self --"isn't it Thursday yet"?, in aniticpation of thursday night LOST, then realize it isn't on at all this summer. What is the expected next season air date??
Each actor has been perfectly selected for their character and played them well. Even Benjamin has conjured wee bits of compassion for his lifes' plight. Le tme know if the full length 'LOST" hits the market.

I gave up on Lost when it got Lost! It reminded me of a new video games were you are required to engulf your life into it.I watch T.V I play games for entertainment not to consume my life. How the show has not self destructed is beyond me.Other than Kate being smoking hot anyway!

I think Lost is brillant. I will miss the mistery & imagination when it ends. A classic on TV. Thank you for awesome entertainment. I do feel for the people who were not able to view from the beginning. If you were not able to I could see how it would be impossible to follow.

There's only one series show I watch, and it's LOST, though it sounds like I'll be tuning into FRINGE as well. I was introduced to LOST by my doctor and his office manager - the day after the episode NUMBERS aired. That plot line alone was enough to get me intrigued, so I read the website episode summaries.

I've been a devout van ever since and will really miss it when it's over. But I own all the DVDs so far and am fairly confident that even though I'll know the ending, it's a show I'll want to watch again and again because I'm always seeing something new or in a different perspective.

Commenting and agreeing w/Vollen - all good things eventually come to an end. However, I will truly miss Lost - this show has kept me in front of the TV every time it came on, no sooner than one week is over, I am in a hurry for the next week. Truly great writing. I am not a reality series watcher, find them boring and a waste of time. I mostly watch cable shows, but never missed an episode of Lost. I am anxious to see next season, and will buy the entire series on DVD.
