Adam Reacts to Simmons, Media; Spills Tour Plans

Adam LambertIn his first live online chat since the "American Idol" finale, Adam Lambert took some time to catch up with his fans and clear up a few things about his plans for the summer tour, his reaction to criticism from Kiss bassist Gene Simmons and -- perhaps most importantly -- whether he has a real Twitter account.

The chat happened right here on Comcast.net's "Eye on Idol" blog and more than 8,000 people turned out to participate.

First things first, Adam confirmed that after several people's attempts at creating fake Twitter accounts claiming to be him, he is now using the site. Here are some highlights, but you can click on the full transcript below to see the entire 30-minute chat.

Asked if the new username "TheRealGlambert" is actually him, Adam said, "It is TheRealGlambert. That is me. Finally, I got a Twitter!"

Spilling a little bit of info about his plans for the "Idol" tour, which begins July 5 in Portland, Ore., Adam said he will be performing "Mad World," but will not be doing "Ring of Fire" at the shows.

Later, he told fans to check out the tour because "there's definitely some new music that was not on the show. And wait until you see my outfit. It rocks!"

On a slightly more serious note, Adam was asked by a fan for his response to Kiss bassist Gene Simmons' claims that Adam was talking about his sexuality too much, that nobody cares that much and he should "shut up" about it.

"I disagree with him. I think that by him saying people don't care in America, I think he's grossly misinformed, because that's what everybody was talking about incessantly," Adam said. "That's why I chose to talk about it, because it was all anybody was talking about. I also find it very hypocritical, considering that he talks about his sex life constantly. But, that's OK. I think he's a very talented guy and I love Kiss."

Adam said it didn't bother him that his sexuality became such a topic for discussion, but that he would have preferred to talk about the music more.

"I'm sure that it's interesting to people, but I do think that we should focus more on the music," he said. "Because, ultimately, my sexual preference really doesn't have anything to do with me as an entertainer."

Adam went on to say he agreed that the media took his off-the-cuff remark about having a "crush" on winner Kris Allen out of proportion.

"Yeah, I think that's kind of how the press works," he said. "They tend to sensationalize every little thing you say, and repeat it and repeat it. Sometimes, it's like the game of telephone... what you say gets exaggerated and changed. But I find it all very funny and I'm not upset by that at all. That's just the way it goes."

And to all the die-hard fans of his who have said they'll never watch the show again, Adam had a message.

"I think that Kris won because he got more votes, fair and square," Adam said. "It doesn't really make much of a difference as far as my career is concerned, if you're a fan of mine. I'm still on the Idol tour. I'm working on an album, set to release in the fall. That was yesterday, let's focus on tomorrow."

I am a 51 year old Christian, and I respect and admire the way in which Adam has handled EVERYTHING during his entire Idol Career..... I did vote for him, and as Adam has mentioned.... this was about music.... I believe he should have won... I have been a fan of Idol for years, and this year will be the first time I have ever attended a concert.... I waited anxiously each week to hear and see what Danny and Adam were going to do! Adam, you are a class act.... You know I would side with Danny's point of view on your lifestyle choice, but that is not what Idol is about! Congratulations on a very promising career, and I will purchase your album!

My son was very disappointed you did not win.... so was I!

Isnt that the pot calling the kettle black? For 20 some years Gene has been blabbing about his sex life. Is it o.k. for him just because it was women?
Adam has been asked the question by the media and he answers it. I think Gene is a bit jealous that his sexual prime has passed. Get over it Gene.

Adam, I'm 55 and I waited every week to hear and see you on AI. I can remember every song. Several of them I still hum or can hear in my head. It is all about the music. I could care less what your sexuality is because it's a personal choice. Maybe you should turn the tables on the press and ask them the same questions. Gene, I agree that you should get over it. No one really cared how many or who you were with.
You are handling everything very well Adam. Keep up the good work. Can't wait for your album, and hope "Mad World" and "Ring of Fire" is on it. Good luck to you and all the other AI people when you go on tour. Hope to see you.

Even though Adam was not my favorite (I voted Danny all the way)... I have to give kudos to him for handling himself in a very professional manner .... with all the controversaries surrounding him, it could have gone really bad for him; but Adam showed class and intelligence. and I truly hope that he continues to make the right choices and wows us with his musical prowess and not let all this other stuff take the forefront of his career....

Adam whocares......they are just performers...not life-style changers....enjoy the music they provide....what they do in there spare time is of no interest to me...

I don't care if he's gay, red, green or what. He seems like he has a great personality and caring of others. More people should be that way. I'm ok with others if they're gay....I just don't like them talking about it all the time....I don't talk about my husband and me's private lives. Let them be private and stay private.

Adam, I believe you should have won" Idol" even though Kris A. is very talented as well, but really! You are heads above him! That " Ring Of fire" Rocked my seat that night and I realized the talent that you were about to unleash to the world at that moment!! I can't wait to see, and really believe, what you might be capable of in the music industry!
As far as Jean Jean, the Ugly looks like a homely PitBull missing his eye teeth?! Bragging about the 200 or so woman hhe slept with and should be seriously checked for Aids or at least Gonnorear?! I mean everyone knows that to score big time with the lady's you have to become a Rock Star!? Lord knows you can be as Ugly as hell that dumb band crazed women will close their eye's and lay down??! Lucily for J. S. he became a Rock Star because the Priesthood would have thrown him to the curb for wacking off every day with dreams that a real woman might look at him! I never did like that Mule! A.K.A **bleep**!

Adam is learning the ropes, I think he did great. personally he is an entertainer i would love to see in Las Vegas, he has more than just a singing ability, he is such a showman!!! As for Simmons yuk yuk yuk I would not let anything he says matter, these are two different men, one an old fart and one an up and comer
go
adam!!!!

coorslitedude kinda of biggoted aren't you. You may not like gay people but you don't have to be mean about it. Adam can sing and he is very talented. I don't care if he is gay or not he is still an amazing person and very talented. Gene Simmons of kiss bragged about all the women he selpt with but thats all right. To me that s disgusting. I never liked his music but when he bragged about all the women he had made me like him even less.

I think that Adam is a class Act. He didn't bring up his sexuality till the public did. He was focused on his music and his music career. I hope that you have a wonderful career and your private life should be just that private.

I was hooked on Adam after the Ring of Fire song and voted over 200 times per show for him. I think his comments in the interview show a professionalism far beyone his age, they also show respect for KISS, for himself, and for his fans now and in the future. This young man is on the threshold of greatness and his sexual orientation is his business. Nobody cares. Look at Sir Elton John for example. Today's society doesn't care!! A loyal senior fan.

As much as I love KISS, I never was much of a Gene Simmons fan. He always was an egotistical windbag. Now he's an old, pathetic, egotistical windbag with a reality show. I'm sure it was quite a shock to him to be onstage with Adam and listen to someone else sing YOUR songs better than you are singing them . . . serious, Adam's vocals were the best on the stage the night of the finale.

As for the chat itself, the moderators seem to have chosen the same old questions . . . we already knew most of the answers before Adam replied.

I think your choice of wording shows extreme disrespect for everyone. You are the type of person that is wrong with this world.
