Lambert: No Surprise, 'I'm Gay'
The long-awaited and ultimately anti-climactic quote that finally puts to rest the speculation over the "American Idol" runner-up's sexuality will appear in the issue of Rolling Stone that will hit newsstands this week.“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” Lambert says in the magazine.
“I’m proud of my sexuality,” Lambert adds. “I embrace it. It’s just another part of me."
According to Us Weekly, Lambert goes on to say that he didn't want to come out during the show because it would have overshadowed the reason he was there in the first place. He did say that "Idol" producers gave him the freedom to handle it however he wanted, but he thought it would have been over-sensationalized at the time.
"I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader,” he says in the Rolling Stone interview. "I'm an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing. It shouldn't matter. Except it does. It's really confusing."
Adam talks about his mansion roommate and eventually "Idol" winner Kris Allen, recalling his reaction when the rooms were assigned.
"I was like, `Oh, (bleep), they put me with the cute guy,'" Lambert says. "Distracting! He's the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean, he's open-minded and liberal, but he's definitely 100 percent straight."
You'll get your chance to ask Adam about this and the rest of his experience on "Idol" next week, when he visits Comcast.net for a 30-minute live chat as part of our string of chats with the "Idol" Top 10 that continues today with Scott MacIntyre at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.

I sure will be glad when this whole "Adam's gay" thing dies down and we can all just get on with music and stuff like that.
I do think it is good that he can talk about different things now. Like being put in "with the cute guy" (Kris). That's kinda funny really. It's almost like a prize and a punishment all at the same time. :)

Who cares? His fifteen minutes are up.
How does one change their perception on a talent as brilliant as his. It will make me like him even more. Since the start he has shown alot of class and sophistication, as well as the other Idol finalists. I'm glad he chose to make his talent as a singer, his priority. Kris also embraced this and has proven to be a class act. C'mon its 2009 not the stone age. Get real America, homosexuality dates back to before the Greeks. I just wanna know when i can buy Adam's CD.
LOL lucky. Prize and punishment. It's funny that even Adam thought Kris was cute when that was what everyone kept saying about Kris winning. That people were only voting for him because he was cute. Maybe Adam voted for him for that reason too LOL
Congrats to Adam! He is very mature for his age and has a realistic approach to this entire situation. The general public may be shocked at how many rock stars and actors/actresses are actually gay and have never come out. What difference does it make? He is an entertainer and a fabulous singer, what he does in his private life is none of our business. I expect Adam to become a very famous entertainer. JRobins.
biff55. I did not vote for Adam, but I have to totally disagree with you. The boy is talented and these "15 minutes" is only the beginning for him.
This guy is an amazing performer. Who cares if he is gay or straight. I wish him a long and successful career!
In response to biff55: You really think Adam's 15 minutes is up huh. How bout a little wager to see who sells the most CDs him or Kris Allen. In my opinion and yes we all have one, Adam is a much bigger and better talent than Kris will ever be.
hmmmmm....I think I knew he was gay when the pics of Adam all but dressed in drag came out...no, no it was when the photo of Adam with his tongue in another guys mouth...no...no... it was when they photographed him coming out of a club and he was holding hands with another guy....anti-climactic? my 73 year old mother new this guys was a MO!
Didn't win first place ... but already he's on the cover of Rolling Stone. Amazing.
I thought it took alot more to get on that cover?
Maybe Lambert has a new beau that works for that rag.

I just want to hear him make a Great album, not some Crap-sandwich thrown together, with special guest writer Kira Dioguardi. Play some more Zeplin!
why does it matter so much if someone is gay or not..if you like to hear them sing then thats that.gay, straight, black, white or what ever lets get back to entertainment!!!!
Adam is an Amazing Artist! I watched the whole season, and I followed him every week and watched him preform. He is very talented, and had a wonderful personality on the show. He will be very sucessful because of his talents, not his sexualy orientation. I don't care if he is gay, striaght, or bi. In my opion he is wonderful for his talent and I would buy his album regardless. And for those who think otherwise, is just wrong. Go Adam!
I agree...there was no relevance. What we are and do in our private lives should not matter what our strength and goals are in life. Adam was blessed to sing and he proved that. Is there a difference forSir" Elton John!! He is a very well respected person and talented. Does anyone wish to differ!!!
Congrats to Adam for coming out. He is one of the most amazing talents to ever hit American Idol. I think Kris will do good, but Adam, this is only the beginning. I cannot wait for his CD. Play his songs over and over from downloading on I Tunes. Handsome, great singer, great performer, all around nice guy too. Can understand why he found Kris "cute" because he is. And Kris is one nice guy too. Best of everything to the both of them.
Gay..straight...what does it matter? He is a person! A great artist and an awesome entertainer.
Who cares!! ROCK ON ADAM!!!! thats whats important....
He was obviously gay from the first moment he walked across a stage and opened his mouth.
