For all those looking to update their Suspectedly Timed News calendars, it seems Brandon Marshall's love affair with the city of Denver ended long before any of us knew.Channel 7 News in Denver reports that Marshall expressed a desire to be traded 18 months ago in a traffic stop.
When the wideout/controversy-magnet was stopped in October 2007 for suspicion of a DUI, he apparently went on an anti-Denver tirade.
"I hate Denver. I hope I get traded. I hate this f******* city," an officer wrote in the police report.Hmmm ... Who has an incentive to tip off a reporter about a statement that remained unreported for almost two years? Marshall wants to be traded. The Broncos need PR cover to trade him -- especially in an offseason where they already sent one superstar packing.
The report was only made public after CALL7 Investigators asked for it, after receiving a tip about the report's content.

Sounds to me like the guy wanted to be let off the hook, since he's a star and all, and police didn't comply, so he got abusive. Let him go. No good team needs this kind of distraction, and no team trying to get better needs it either. As far as who blabbed, who cares, unless a crime was committed in the process?

As a die hard Bronco fan I was willing to give the new coach and his system a chance to succeed. I cringed when we traded Cutler (although with him when things go bad they get worse) for Orton, but now the only remaining franchise player wants to leave my support is waning. I probably will cancel my NFL Direct Ticket so I won't have to watch what happens.Wed, 01 Jul 2009 19:28:57 GMT | chiboomer

I've been a Denver fan for a long time. I just don't understand --- I just don't get it. Why bring in an offensive mind that's going to totally revamp a system that wasn't broke to begin with. This team is destroying an offensive jugernaut that was ranked no. 2 overall last year. Why didn't they pursue a defensive coach like a Rex Ryan? What are they doing to this team? It's painful.Wed, 01 Jul 2009 19:32:55 GMT | jcuomo

I do not blame the coach for two guys who need to be baby sat. They get paid pretty dam good money to do what they do. Both distractions had to and will have to go.SEE YA

Six points, plus an extra point1) The allusion to Shakespeare is a little snooty, but Denver is having some building issues that are only apparent to those who live here, namely, a too homogenous demographic. Well documented comments by athelets who come here from other markets testify to the look being one tone, only. And therefore, alien to their likes.
2) This team never recoverd from the Darrent Williams shooting. And what would happen to the chemistry of any group of men after such a horrible attack?
3) We, the fans of Denver football, are fervent in our support of the team, so what ever they do, we will be supportive.
4) Brandon has a flash that makes him fun to watch and will serve him well, even if he plays elsewhere.
5) The QB is all that makes a team click, the other parts need to fall into place, and so they have to be available, but it shall always start with the good play caller, especially an experienced, seat-of-the-pants kind of thinker.
6) The Broncos are expert at public relations. They continue to make headlines from their relatively remote Rocky Mountain location. Any news is noticable and makes a player and his agent keep the ear to the ground for a trade opportunity
And, for the extra point,
7) Elway, of course. If he annoints a player with his blessing, they will be golden.

Brandon Marshall can't catch a cold - just ask Peyton Manning on his "just another" TD drop in the Pro Bowl. Sure he had 100 catches last year but we threw it 50-60 times a game! The guy just can't stay out of trouble - dump him before anyone else figures it out.Wed, 01 Jul 2009 20:58:24 GMT | COdoublediamond

Does not anyone understand that in order to win a Super Bowl you NEED quality players that will ALWAYS put the TEAM FIRST! I love that Coach McD is changing the culture of players that is on the roster. Denver needs players that LOVE DENVER and the BRONCOS PERIOD. Denver does not need more Travis Henry's or guys just looking for a big payday . A LA BRANDON MARSHALL.Wed, 01 Jul 2009 21:51:01 GMT | RafaNadal08

I agree that if any player doesn't want to be here, get rid of them!!! Send trouble packing!!! The reason he even said that is because every time he turned around he was in trouble in this town. But don't blame Denver Marshall. Look in the mirror instead. The Denver fans and the Broncos organization are the best in the NFL and if you can't be happy here, good riddance A***ole!!Wed, 01 Jul 2009 23:40:06 GMT | mjhammer

People sem to forget that when Mike Shanahan came to town, he did alot of house cleaning, getting rid of the whiners, troublemakers and character problems amassed by Dan Reeves. It took a few years, but we had a team we could be proud of. Marshall is starting to smell like Ochotaco and will only be a type B Owens cancer if allowed to get his way. He did NOT lead the team in receiving yards last year, he led them in dropped passes. Same as his Mentor, Terrell Owens. Buh ByeThu, 02 Jul 2009 00:00:09 GMT | SFlaBronco

Here's the deal. When late in his career Vince Lombardi announced that he was coming out of retirement to coach the Redskins. One of the redskins was out fishing when he heard the news, he immediately paddled to show and did 200 push ups. It's not the same anymore. No respect for the team, the coach, or the game. The players are all a bunch of overpayed selfcentered **bleep**s. Send em all packin', take 100 guys out to a feild (aka bear bryant) and come back with 50 that really want to play football, now you got a team. They'd kick **bleep** on these mamby pamby pretty boys we got now. We need a REAL coach.Thu, 02 Jul 2009 05:02:22 GMT | maddog2020

Trade him for a 12-year old water boy. You'll lose the athletic ability, but you'll get an equal trade when it comes to maturity. And, as far as losing the athletic ability, forget it. You know you can't build an offense around Marshall because you can't count on his a** not being suspended again for his next off-field nonsense.Thu, 02 Jul 2009 05:02:53 GMT | Stayfocused

I made my only trip to Denver about 40 years ago. I was 20 years old or so, and my buddy and I, walking down the street, were questioned by a cop as to why we were there and when we got in. Realizing we were not there to make any trouble, he politely told us the city was a rough place and the cops needed to keep up on things. No offense was taken and we understood. What's the big deal?Thu, 02 Jul 2009 05:04:22 GMT | frankdrafting
