Major Dad Rips ESPN

Brad Childress isn't happy with ESPN's new power couple (Chris Mortensen and Ed Werder looked so happy in those honeymoon pictures) and he's telling Minneapolis radio all about it.In an interview with KFAN, Childress took the worldwide leader's dynamic duo to task.
"Absolutely not," Brad Childress said when asked about ESPN's report that the team had given Favre a deadline of this week. "Maybe by Deanna (Favre) or somebody like that, but certainly not from me. Not even — not even close. (I) don't know where that dropped out of the sky from. ...Childress was then asked why he didn't correct ESPN's report publicly before this.
"I don’t know how you guys in that industry go about your sourcing. 'A source says that a source says,' I don’t know, it’s questionable, very questionable.
"I really don’t clarify things that are incorrect because I literally could stand at a press conference all day long and clarify," he said. "It’s really not my job to comment on erroneous things. For its part, ESPN is sticking by Werder's and Mortensen's report. And Werder is now reporting that the Vikings have temporarily given up their pursuit of Favre "after the retired quarterback failed to report to organized team activities that began Tuesday as head coach Brad Childress had mandated, team and league sources said.
"I don’t have time to do that. I can sit and laugh at it and wonder how responsible that is. I simply don’t have time to do that."
"The Vikings conveyed their decision in a phone call from vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski to Bus Cook, the agent who represents Favre."
Do you believe Childress about the deadline? Did ESPN act irresponsibly? Will Brett wind up in Minnesota this year? Sound off here.

i would laugh my **bleep** off if he did sign .simply because it would piss so many of those delusional packer fans off. If i were the owner i would do it just to retire his number as a viking, even if it is just ceremonail at half time .Wed, 10 Jun 2009 18:13:02 GMT | spedbus454

Maybe I've been missing something. But why do those LOSERS Eagles want Farve? They already have an aged worthless LOSER QB.Wed, 10 Jun 2009 18:25:40 GMT | Mr-Donkey

I like to think positive and hope Brett stays retired. If he's healthy however, he could help the Vikes who have no hope without a quality veteran quarterback.
There are others out there; they should look for one.

The only thing I would really love to see is another 24 hour sports TV station to give ESPN competition. They are so arrogant and don't have any accountability. They also lie like hell, everytime a news story breaks I hear it on a radio station (not ESPN) at 2:00PM and they tell you they broke the story at 5:00 PM. They do it constantly and nobody calls them on it. How About MADDOG TV?Wed, 10 Jun 2009 19:02:02 GMT | HuskyLeon

My question is why do sports fans choose to be cyber bullies on these blogs? I say let a person make fun of or insult a team or player, so what, dont take it so personally! If a person wants to say a player stinks then let them it is their opinion.
It is unfortunate when SOME sports fans prove the theory that they are mindless drones incapable of critical thinking.

Hey if Brett Farve wants to play' who the hell are any of you to tell him no! I hope he plays two years for the vikes ,,He"s a hall of fame QB ,,he"ll retire on his terms not on yours . He has a couple of teams that want him.So it's not like he's going to ride the pine just to stay in the NFL....

I really get tired of the media blowing things out of proportion all of the time. Unless you are 100% positive, you shouldn't spread rumors as it only hurts situations. We all know what Brett Favre is like after his years in Green Bay and his year in New York.Brad Childress would be out of his mind if he actually thought that he could actually get Farve to do something that no other team has been able to do to this point and that is to get a straight answer from him.
Childress obviously wants a healthy Brett Favre if he is going to be a Minnesota Viking and Favre won't know this until he can actually test his surgically repaired arm out.
Favre is obviously an outstanding quarterback and possibly the best ever. Unfortunately, Farve's inability to make decisions will haunt him forever. He has lost a lot of fans because of this. I personally would like to see what he could do for the Vikings as many feel as though they are a quality quarterback away from being a possible super bowl contender.

Can anyone of you clowns answer the question at hand? Who said anything about the Eagles QB or the Packers team?To answer the question, yes, I think anyone is irresponsible to go around quoting a "source" without proof.
I don't have any reason, not to believe Childress or ESPN.
As far as Brett playing for another team, all I know is.......Go Sixburgh.. I have a QB-Ben Roethlesberger!

Sounds to me like the media and Russakoff are blowing smoke up our @$$e$ over and over again. They are the ones treating rumors as facts. They are the ones making everyone tired of hearing about it. It is all speculation until you have a direct quote from Favre himself and, so far, there is none. Until then, why don't you all shut the *bleep* up about it. If Favre decides to play, he will. If Favre decides not to play, he won't. Any team would be lucky to have him.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 00:52:29 GMT | DarkHunter
