Kate Winslet Plays Media Tug of War
Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet accepted libel damages totaling $41,000 over allegations she publicly lied about her exercise routine.
An article published in the Daily Mail newspaper in January disputed Winslet's assertion that she didn't go to the gym, but instead exercised at home just 20 minutes each day.
Winslet expressed her happiness about winning the suit saying, "I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy."
