For those of you who have been impatiently awaiting that moment when it’ll be appropriate to toss those gladiator sandals to the back of your closet and whip out your beloved boots and some trendy tights, the moment is upon us. Come autumn, flip flops are forbidden and fall shoes are in. Take a look at our choices for the five shoe styles you’ll want to wear this fall.
Over-The-Knee Boots
This season’s biggest new fall boots trend is this extended boot. Check out some of these (cheaper) versions that are just as hot as the Jimmy Choo that started it all.

We simply can’t get enough of this brown over the knee boot. Casual, simple, and chic. What more could you want?
Sleek and sexy with its pointed toe and chic suede, this shoe is best when worn with a black dress and stylish fall (possibly boyfriend) blazer.
Ankle booties
Rejoice short (vertically challenged) women! The ankle high bootie has overtaken the traditional mid-calf and knee-high boots in up-to-the-minute cool. Check out some of the fall collection of these hybrid styles that’ll elongate your legs.

This leather boot supplies a hint of the West with its moccasin look and tie around the front.
We’re really into the rock star quadruple zipper embellishment on this feminine but authoritative pair.
Oxfords
Preppy chic is back with this season’s surprise hit. At first glance they look a bit like bowling shoes, but we can assure you they’ll go great with skinny jeans and skirts even when you’re not hitting the lanes.

This simple shoe is a steal that’ll surely satiate your oxford hunger for fall.
To further feminize the oxford, Nine West has added a substantial wedge heel, so it works with dresses and tights, just like your favorite pumps.
Modern Mary Jane
There is perhaps no shoe style more perennial than the Mary Jane. Now available in a variety of updates, styles, and colors, it’s a surefire choice this season.

This T-strap style has a chunky heel and that extra ankle support, so you should have no trouble wearing it at work all day.
Straps lower-down on the foot give this tame grey pair an updated look.
Pointed Toe Flats
This year, many designers are taking the pointed toe look and creating flats with a slightly rounder point – still sexy and a little less Wicked Witch of the West.

This pair with dainty cutouts comes in three pleasant colors – black, yellow and red.
Printed flats are going to be all over the place this fall – so if you’re going to go with a pattern, why not choose one that’s tried and true, like Missoni’s brown-and-purple version.
