Billy Joel seems to work harder than most divorcees to prove he's a hopeless romantic. The details of his divorce from his wife of five years, Katie Lee Joel, still haven't been worked out, yet he's stepping out with his new girlfriend, Deborah Dampiere, to show he's moving on.He made an appearance with Dampiere at the Met's opening night concert where he was asked about how his divorce was going. Popeater reports that before his publicist could intervene, Joel fielded the question himself, saying, "How are the divorce proceedings going? I don't know. Ask my lawyer."
"For now," he added, "I'm enjoying dating this lovely lady."
Quick, and to the point.
Maybe his relationship with Katie Lee Joel found Billy wandering in the wilderness, trying to find whatever he lost when his marriage to Christie Brinkley ended and he struggled with addiction and depression. Now he's putting it behind him.

I don't know anything about this girl, so I wll not judge. I just hope Billy Joel doesn't end up in an actors home or something like that when he is older, due to the fact he is broke from paying alimony. It's great to be a pop star, on the one hand, fame, fortune and all that goes with it. On the other hand, they are targets for gold diggers ala McCartney-Mills. I guess I should count my blessings. The only reason I clicked to read about Billy Joel's personal life is that I am interested in the man because of his absolutely incredible TALENT.It's sad to me that people only seem to be able to think of the money. Have you LISTENED to his songs? He obviously has emotional depth, experience, and charisma that are far more significant than any amount of money he has amassed.
I am sure Billy Joel is somewhat vulnerable to beautiful gold diggers, but it is also entirely possible that a woman of any age might be drawn to him for reasons that could be the foundation of a meaningful relationship. Some young women might actually be looking for something other than a youthful body--how many women lament the immaturity of the males in their lives?
And besides, bonbon makes a very good point.

I don't thing Cristy Brinkley was a gold digger; she had money of her own so there must be something attractive about him. At least they were closer in age.
