Chris Brown Fears Death Threats

Chris Brown is reportedly paranoid in the wake of credible death threats and has become obsessed with his security, according to a report published in the Chicago Sun-Times. He's beefed up his bodyguard detail to include uniformed and plainclothes guards surrounding him at all times, thanks in part to threats from a group that refers to itself as the Woman's Protection Action League. If you've seen the movie 'I Shot Andy Warhol,' a scenario like this might ring a bell. The good people at Jezebel were quick to identify this purported group as a new version of S.C.U.M. (Society for Cutting Up Men), after a manifesto written by would-be Warhol assassin Valerie Solanas. (You can pick up a copy for yourself for just $11.25!)
I won't tacitly endorse vigilante justice -- I'm not the Mayor of Philadelphia or Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey -- but Chris Brown's PR team didn't do wonders to rehabilitate his image beyond the initial press release. Since then he's been cavalier about the ordeal on the Internet, and hasn't been a stranger to the social circuit, meeting up with buddies for the NBA playoffs. It's not so shocking then that this form of militance might scare him a little bit. He's used the threats to justify the recently alleged assault on a paparazzo who photographed him playing basketball. It might be a good idea to lay low for a while.
Vigilantism would rob us of a far greater spectacle. I mean, who doesn't want to see Chris squirm while facing Rihanna's steely gaze from the witness stand?

I think that the worthless little bum should be running scared. After all, he beat up on a woman. Maybe if he ever has a daughter, he will feel the same way about men that choose to be abusive towards women. I don't know Chris Brown but he seems to be a Momma's boy who was never around a responsible male authority figure. I suspect that one day, he'll have his block knocked off.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 16:38:48 GMT | TJkp69

I'm glad he's scared. Let him know what it's like to fear someone that used to love you (public). Maybe then he'll understand the horrific betrayal Rihanna felt when someone she loved was beating her and choking her and promising to end her life. He should think on those threats for a good, long while. And he should be feeling fear. I don't even know the guy and I'd kick him if he passed me in the street. I'll bet your Mama's real proud, you piece of weasel excrement.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 16:45:22 GMT | SteveInPA

I think the press has shown Chris Brown as being far too laissez-faire about what he did. I often take what I see and hear from the press with little regard but I watched the youtube videos and it showed just how immature he is. Not one ounce of of contrition. Like most young people he has that feeling of entitlement. "yea, I did it , so what" I hope the court makes him take responsibility for his actions because he certainly isn't. I do not believe in death threats but with his obvious lack of regard for Rihanna (who he said he loved) and his "don't give a **bleep**" attitude I'm not surprised he has received these threats. Woman who have "survived" brutality at the hands of a man are very militant.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 16:47:45 GMT | pennylu

The little punk should be scared. I wouldnt want anyone to kill him but a good but wupping would do him good. Only a coward and a punk would hit a women. If she made him mad he should of just walked away. But there are always some dumb people who will still support him.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 16:47:53 GMT | patricia52

Everyone is passing judgement on someone who is technically still a teenager and is getting help for himself. He should not have done what he did, that's for sure. But death threats. Like you guys have never done anything wrong. By the way, rememeber that Rihanna is not innocent either. She did start the fight and hit him with a stiletto . Well that would make anyone go off the deep end. Instead of the trash you all are talkin, how about hopes and prayers that the help he is getting will work. To think that you all think death threats are ok! That's what the world has come to. Also, none of us were there . Leave it to the courts and leave them both alone.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 16:51:47 GMT | tiffer

I think Chris Brown is a human being and deserve respect for his privacy. Sure he might be wrong for what he did to his girlfriend at the time, but it is not for us to be the judge and jury of this young man, I think everyone has had some sort of problem in their life, and I am sure he has learned his lesson without threats on his life!Thu, 11 Jun 2009 16:54:09 GMT | PEPIE

Like most of these comments I believe Chris Brown thinks he is above the law. He may think Rihanna made me mad...MEEE Chris Brown and I was entitled to beat her...Still I don't believe in death threats they both came out of that provocation alive. I do hope the courts fine him and give him community service to show young people especially that this is not the way to handle a disagreement.Message Edited by lunes on 06-11-2009 01:11 PM

Listen to you guys.. your saying it's ok to give death threats. That's almost as bad as beating a girl. We all know what he did was wrong, but lets all grow up a little bit, it's not ok to give death threats. As far as im concerned, you guys should be scared of your self's for justifying death threats. wow.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 17:11:12 GMT | swaggaswag

ROCKEveryone seems to forget she hit him in the head with a high heel shoe while he was driving.....I am not saying you should beat women but, there have been cases where people have died by this kind of attack. It takes 2 to tango, she isn't innocent in this.

Who are we to judge as stated before. None of us was there so who really knows the truth. Also mentioned before, there was two people involved. What responsibility is the female taking for all of this. People are always quick to label the male as the bad person. I'm a female and I always believe there is 3 sides to a story. I'm not saying what Chris did was ok but thats not our business. If it was just some average joe off the street, would it really go to this level?? Whatever punishment is placed upon him, thats something he will have to deal with...punishment could come anyway, guilt, time, etc...My personal thought is because the female in this case is extremly pretty and very popular, society feel like they need to get involved. An average woman thats not so pretty is pushed to the side. We have no place to threaten to take anyones life...Thu, 11 Jun 2009 17:18:24 GMT | DEDG

I agree with Pepie....he is a human being! What man has the authority to take a person's life? Some of you should read the story in the Bible when the woman who committed adultry was brought before Jesus to be stoned. Jesus replied, "Those of you without sin cast the first stone." When He looked up, her accusers were gone! If we want to be forgiven for things that we do or have have done in life.....who are we to not forgive others?Thu, 11 Jun 2009 17:19:58 GMT | Menyonj

In the wake of the senseless violence that has happened in the last couple of weeks I would hope that people think before made comments about wishing harm on this young man or any other person. No, I am not a fan, however, he is young and hopefully will learn from his mistakes.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 17:21:12 GMT | Starlissa

i'm all for vigilantes, especially when defending "underdogs" (children, women, elderly, animals). that is not to say that women are weaker just not evenly matched when it comes to fighting a man unless she has special skills. however death in this case might be a bit severe. maybe just a good whooping should come first.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 17:32:01 GMT | lancelott

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? White and light will bruise easily so the bruises do not prove that she was bruitally attacked. If you've ever watched "Thin Line Between Love and Hate" LynnWhitfield's character placed bruises on herself to make it appear as if she was attacked by her lover. If you've ever watched "Fatal Attraction" Glenn Close's character did some unusual things as well, including harming herself. Everyone is in agreement that domestic violence is always unacceptable...but No one knows what happened between Rhianna and Chris but the two of them. They are both young and will make bad decisions. Let the court system and the two of them work this out and finish living your own individual lives. Rhianna is a beautiful person and so is Chris. Beautiful people mess up too. Please.....let it go! Keep making beautiful music Chris and Rhianna.Thu, 11 Jun 2009 17:44:53 GMT | Secret47
