Casting Catfight: Who Would You Choose?

Fair LadyHollywood’s hottest are apparently getting into it over some much-loved remakes. (I know, I know. More remake news? But I swear this is good.)

Who can do Audrey Hepburn justice and properly deliver the much-loved musical line, “Just you wait, Henry Higgins -- just you wait"?

The UK Telegraph reported that Keira Knightley was confirmed by co-producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh, for the part of beautiful cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady.” But now they are singing a different tune -- so to speak -- about casting for the Emma Thompson-penned remake. It seems that both Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson are being considered for the role.

So which starlet can fill the lovely peddler’s petticoats? Keira certainly has the waifish look and a legitimate English accent. No word on her singing abilities, but the fact that the Telegraph reported she had already begun lessons doesn’t bode well.

ScarJo is beautiful but doesn’t really scream scamp. We’ve heard her singing and, well, it needs some work. She was approached by Andrew Lloyd Webber about the possibility of playing Maria in a West End “Sound of Music” revival. Webber ended up choosing an actress through a television contest. Draw your own conclusions.

Daniel Craig is rumored to be in line for the role of Professor Henry Higgins. A far cry from the almost elderly and decidedly un-jacked Rex Harrison, no?

BarbarellaIn other casting contention news, the “Barbarella” remake camp can’t seem to make up their minds. Should they take the older brunette man-eater with confusing tattoos or her younger doppelgänger?

That’s right. Angelina Jolie AND Megan Fox will audition for the sci-fi role that made Jane Fonda an international sensation.

Which lady can fill the thigh-high boots of this 41st Century astronaut? Both starlets have starred in action films and both have played their fair-share of sexually-charged characters. Neither of the actresses will have trouble getting into Barbarella’s strategically-ripped clothing. But, who can bring the camp necessary to play the part?

What Do You Think?

To honestly think that anyone can take Adurey Hepburn's place as Eliza Doolittle is just plain wierd...Audrey was the ultimate actress, changling and woman, the mentioned replacements are not in the same class as she.

I can't see either one of those two choices filling shoes once occupied by Audrey Hepburn. I'm thinking Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, or Audrey Tautou.

Clearly it is Keira Knightly and let's not forget that Audrey did NOT sing in the original movie, that is what lip syncing is for !!!

the casting between megan and angelina is ridicious...megan isnt on the same level as angelina. no matter how hard she tries she cant make a name for hershelf and she relies on the media to group her with angie. she is like a bad knock-off... looks can only take you so far and for the re-make of audrey hepburn i agree with "atatheaternearu" with the choice of natalie portman...

The movies should not be remade. That whole lack of creativity is certainly getting tired. But the star who could pull off Audrey's role - it's Keira hands-down. Scarlett has neither the voice, personality or presence for that kind of role.

For Eliza Doolittle, I'd cast Emma Watson or Anne Hathaway (if she can convincingly pull of a Cockney accents).
As for Babarella, why remake a wretched film like that? I also wouldn't want to condemn anyone to walk in the shoes of such a bad actress - Jane Fonda.

As for Professor Higgins, I vote for Colin Firth or, even better, Hugh Jackman. But this is only if My Fair Lady has to be made...some movies, for good reasons, should not be re-made.

First of all, don't remake movies 37 times. Come up with original ideas. Hear me, Jim Carrey? Secondly, Keira and Scarlett. Both are smoking hot, but Keira can act, Scarlett can not. Decision made.
