It only took a decade for Aishwarya Rai to become the queen of Bollywood cinema where she's now a celebrity phenomenon akin to Angelina Jolie. A former Miss World and one of the gorgeous faces of L'Oreal, Rai has plenty to keep her busy. Which is why the actress isn't feeling the rush to take Hollywood by storm. Instead she's slowly testing the Western waters accepting roles in films like "Bride and Prejudice" and the sequel comedy "The Pink Panther 2" now out on DVD.

Rai recently spoke exclusively to Comcast.net about her career goals, playing against Steve Martin and who she thinks is beautiful.

Comcast.net: You seem to have been wisely selective about your western roles. To date, what are some of your deciding factors in committing to a Hollywood film?

Rai: The start date is usually the initial concern because I have obligations years in advance. But should a film be presented, as did "The Pink Panther 2," then I make the dates work regardless. Normally I consider the material, character, director, cast and the overall time commitment.

What do you think of America's celeb obsession? Is it worse or different in Europe?

Rai: Celebrity is celebrity worldwide. It comes with the territory...but I find people to be great and very giving.

There was some talk for awhile about you being a Bond girl in a Daniel Craig film. Is that something that interests you at this stage of your career?

Rai: James Bond is like "The Pink Panther" franchise, I grew up watching them and enjoying them thoroughly. Daniel Craig is great but I have not heard such talk.

Now you are on the most beautiful woman list in many countries all over the world, but who do you personally consider gorgeous - either in your personal life or in the celebrity world?

Rai: My mother. I prefer to consider the inside of a person and not the outside.

As for "The Pink Panther 2," had you seen the Sellers originals before signing onto this sequel?

Rai: Yes! "That is not my dog" still makes me laugh!

You've done the spectrum of genres in Indian film, but is it much different doing comedy in Indian cinema vs. western cinema?

Rai: It is the same. you take the role and do your job. The key is understanding the character and enjoying what you're doing.

What did you take away from working with Steve Martin and your co-stars?

Rai: How much fun everyone had, with the cameras rolling and without the cameras. The entire cast really had a great comradery. Steve is a master for sure, the subtle changes he made with every take were magic to watch.

If you had a dream project you could make happen tomorrow, what would it be and what would your part in it be?

Rai: Every film is a dream project to me. I simply love what I am doing.

"The Pink Panther 2" is now out on DVD.
