Foodie Feud a Falsehood?

Despite what you may have heard, there's no bad blood between knife-wielding Food Network darlings Giada De Laurentiis and Rachael Ray, De Laurentiis revealed in the June issue of Redbook magazine.
While they aren't at each other's throats, they're not exactly besties either. De Laurentiis told the magazine via Us Weekly,
"Do we hang out all the time? No. Are we best friends? No."With that kind of sugary talk, maybe De Laurentiis should consider switching from Italian food to baking sweets!
"But if you're not best friends, people assume you hate each other." "We laugh about it," De Laurentiis says. "We do these festivals together, and she'll say to me, 'Oh, we'd better take a picture together and smile, because if we don't, God only knows what's going to get written about us.' She's a lovely person."

I'm tired of both of them. Rachael Ray silly talk while cooking ... and Giada's fake Italian .... I love The Barefoot Contess, Ina ... who is real and not a big mouth .... Rachael seems to think she's a "legend in her own mind" ..... Giada's laugh drives me crazy ....Sat, 23 May 2009 05:22:14 GMT | krm65

Rachael has become too big now. Used to be very cute and we enjoyed watching her 30 minute meal show. Giada has always been very irratating to watch (PERFECT), if she would just stop saying that. Best person to watch is Paula Deen!!!Sun, 24 May 2009 22:20:22 GMT | webdiva

as far as i'm concerned rachel drinks to much, quit watching her a long time ago, giada is my favorite of the two, but ina is my all time favorite. rachael with her silly talk makes me sick, why food network keeps her on i can't figure out? time for someone new to come on the scene.Tue, 26 May 2009 13:17:10 GMT | danielswife

I don't care for either one. Rachel seems as thought she is a dirty cook. On her show she plays with all kind of animals ( one of the animal's urine supposedly smelled like maple syrup) then goes in the kitchen and cook!! that's not yummo that's yukko!!!! Then Giada, well her show is so boring it sucks! Ina, well her world is just too white for me. Does she even know any people of color???I like Bobby Flay and his throwdowns! Shout out to Sandra Lee!

I personally am a Giada fan. But I feel that Ina is the best. Although I sometimes I can't afford to make her meals she is a joy to watch. But I agree she should find someome of color in the hamptons.Tue, 26 May 2009 22:52:06 GMT | SiSiandB

Of the two, I would have to side with Giada. While I was a big fan of Rachael in the past, she has gotten quite annoying (anyone notice the now obvious tic she has of sticking her tongue out of the side of her mouth?). Giada can get a bit boring at times agreed. I also agree with everyone's comments that Ina is wonderful! I also agree that some of her recipes can be costly, but you're dealing with a high-end caterer - that has to be put in the mix. Paula is FABULOUS! Sandra, while some of her ideas are truly great, quite a LOT of her recipes fall through. Each chef/cook on FTV has good and bad aspects and if you don't like the one currently on the screen, remember - you have a wonderful power, you can TURN THE CHANNEL TO SOMETHING ELSE FOR A HALF HOUR!Wed, 27 May 2009 15:32:03 GMT | lalegarword

Wow the comments are dead on... Ina is my favorite overall female cook, I agree, don't any people of color, asian, black, anything go to her part of the hamptons.. I doesn't matter except the show is not relateable (sp) to many because of the starkness of "friends". California doesn't have any around Giada either... Rachel is annoying and overexposed.. its not cute anymore... Paula is loud and I have seen who is really cooking in her kitchens at her restaurants. Sandra Lee is nice.. gotta love her kitchiness... Alton and Bobby Rock...Sat, 30 May 2009 19:50:57 GMT | FreeDL

oh I forgot, now Rachel's husband John is employed by the Food Network... nepotism at its finest... dont start me on Paula's sons... (rolls eyes).Sat, 30 May 2009 19:54:14 GMT | FreeDL

I love them both. I just wish all of them would take their nasty, germ breeding rings off like Rachel does. I have seen Paula take hers off a few times, but none of the others do. Ideally, they all should wear gloves made for food when mixing ingredients by hand.Sun, 31 May 2009 14:11:51 GMT | lewiegy

Of the two Rachael Ray is by far the most annoying kitchen worker to watch. I say kitchen worker because she's certainly no chef. I wonder if she ever shuts up. I bet she talks while making love too. Yap yap yap. Goodness I wish I could sometimes stick a dish rag in her mouth. Did you ever wonder why she insists on stacking cooking components up to her chin while digging in the refrigerator or cabinet, despite the fact the work counter is only two steps away. Hey Rachael, honey you can make another trip to the fridge, probably would take less time than trying to balance all that stuff for one trip. Most of all, Rachael doesn't bring much to the plate for a meal. I've never had any inclination to duplicate one of her 30 minute meals for my family. I think too much of my dear ones.
At any rate, the whole food tv network has sold out. The reality shows, kitchen arena things are not why I started watching that channel. If it weren't for Bobby Flay, Alton Brown (who himself has gotten way too silly), Paula Deen and Sandra Lee I'd never tune in the channel.
I'm not interested in the theatrics, just basically learning new and exciting ways to cook.

Well, I like both but I especially like Giada's books because they have great photos and it's much easier to make a recipe when you know what it's supposed to look like. Also, recipes come out wellMon, 01 Jun 2009 02:31:58 GMT | didistarr

Rachel is the most obnxious person in America. Her special words for things are insulting and makes me think she is talking down to us as if we are kids. Giada is a professional and her meals are things I would want to cook not the low class stuff Rachel prepares. Don't unerstand why Rachel is so popular she isn't a chef, not well educated and full of herself.Mon, 01 Jun 2009 05:54:32 GMT | Bobber

It's true that Rachael's banter gets kind of goofy, and Giada's recipes seem more interesting, but between Giada's barracuda grin and over-articulated Italian--please, like Mario or Lidia ever talk like that--I can't stand to watch her. BTW, check out her appearance before her make-over: she was a plain-looking nothing, which may explain why she is so in love with herself now. I agree that Ina makes do-able, yummy food; her recipes don't disappoint. But all these ladies, Paula included, are cooks, not chefs--and there is a huge difference. Bobby, Mario, Lidia--these folks are true chefs with a lot to teach, not just about assembling food but about flavors and recipe development.Mon, 01 Jun 2009 08:06:54 GMT | edahgal

Excuse me, it's not Ina's job to search for diversity. Every community has its own make-up. Maybe now that we have a black prez, we should think about moving into a post-diversity America where unity matters more.Mon, 01 Jun 2009 08:14:34 GMT | edahgal
