Escape to Africa: Four Friends Take Off Again
The four crazy critters from New York's Central Park Zoo are back in their wildest adventure yet! "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" picks up where the first film left off, with our furry friends stranded on the remote shores of Madagascar looking for a way back home. The homesick New Yorkers quickly hatch a hair-brained plan that has them high-tailing it home in a penguin-piloted plane. Unfortunately, the skies turn out to be none-too-friendly, and they fall a little short of their original destination when they make a crash landing on the plains of Africa.
For the first time in their lives, the zoo crew is nose-to-nose with their home-grown counterparts and gets a taste of how the other half lives. Families are reunited, friends are made and new love blooms. But that's not to say all is well on the plains. The threats of evil poachers, spear-wielding natives and some seriously jealous boyfriends cause the castaways to realize that it really is a jungle out there and makes them wonder if they'll ever find their way back home.
The Madagascar 2 Cast
Original co-directors Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath got in touch with their wild sides one more time to tell the continuing adventure of these big city castaways and, just like the movie, the production turned out to be a family affair. Ben Stiller returns to voice Alex the Lion and even brings along his real-life son Quinlin to play Alex during his baby years. Jada Pinkett Smith plays Hippo goddess Gloria with her daughter Willow by her side providing the voice of little Gloria. Chris Rock (Marty the Zebra), Andy Richter (Mort the Mouse Lemur), David Schwimmer (Melman the Giraffe),Sacha Baron Cohen (Julien the Ring-Tailed Lemur) and Cedric the Entertainer (Maurice the Aye-aye) also lend their voices to the animated bunch.
"Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" also introduces some newcomers to the animated jungle world. Funnyman Bernie Mac gives voice to Alex's dad, along with "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin and "The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd, who are cast as alpha-male lion Makunga and Alex's Mom. Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am makes his debut as Hippo lothario Moto Moto.
